When the leaves are changing and the air gets cooler, I indulge in my favorite cold weather treat – a chai tea latte, which I find in local coffee shops in my hometown of Whitefish, Montana. I just love the combination of the creamy milk and spices such as ginger, cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon. Whether I’m having a sip to warm me up before a cold bike ride or after a chilly day on the slopes, I always find comfort in that fragrant, steaming cup of tea.
As with all my other flavors of JoJé Bars, I find inspiration from my favorite treats, and then I carry those flavors into a bar that has nutritional value.
So, when I was brainstorming a new flavor of JoJé bar for the fall, I immediately thought of that chai tea latte and how the chai spices would perfectly capture the taste of the holidays and be a unique flavor combination that wasn’t what everyone else was doing (pumpkin and gingerbread!) I got to work in my kitchen, testing and tasting.
Using real food ingredients like almonds, gluten-free oats, honey, chia seeds, and of course the spices, I was able to create a bar that is both functional – providing healthy fats and protein – and delicious. I also threw in a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness of the spices, and Salted Chai was born!
I hope you will enjoy this new flavor as much as I do!
